The John Russell Fox, Andover

Which journalist wouldn't enjoy
having a drink near an original intertype setting machine
used by a paper: The Andover Advertiser,
in the place of the original building?

The John Russell Fox is the name
of this Wetherspoon restuarant and hotel,
named after the man who produced the first edition
of The Andover Advertiser
at this address on 1 January 1858.

The paper existed
in the hands of Family Fox and The Holmes family
until 1986.

The hotel can be entered
through the restaurant
or at the back of the building.

Wear your glasses to find your room.

Thr room looked new, very clean,
but the carpet seemed to be worn,
which wasn the case at all,
careful inspection learned.

It was nice to be somewhere
where the sockets were not near the floor,
but at places where they could be needed.

Except for this switch:

High at the ceiling....

Everything was very clean.
